Session Description:

What happens when HR professionals stop simply explaining benefits and start teaching them? They master what they teach.

Employee benefits are one of an organization's largest investments, yet many employees lack the confidence and health literacy needed to make informed healthcare decisions. In this engaging and practical session, Toni Hohlfelder demonstrates how intentional employee education can improve health outcomes, strengthen engagement, and help organizations better manage healthcare costs. Through real-world stories, proven communication strategies, and actionable ideas, attendees will learn how teaching benefits helps employees make better decisions while helping HR professionals become stronger benefit leaders themselves.

Participants Will Explore How:

  • Improve employee health outcomes, healthcare decision-making, and engagement through benefits education.
  • Shift HR's role from benefit administration to strategic benefit stewardship.
  • Use year-round communication strategies to drive understanding and behavior change.
  • Identify high-impact topics that help employees become better healthcare consumers.
  • Implement practical, low-cost education initiatives immediately upon returning to work.

Learning Outcome

Participants will leave with practical tools, content ideas, and a framework for building an employee benefits education strategy that improves employee understanding, healthcare utilization, and organizational outcomes.

What we teach others… We master ourselves!
